Do my images get uploaded?
No. Images are compressed inside your browser, so they never leave your device. You can watch the network tab and see for yourself.
Can I compress to an exact size, like 100 KB?
Yes. Choose Target size and type the KB. Merji finds the best quality that fits. If it can't reach the size at readable quality, it says so and lets you shrink the image to force it.
Can I resize the image too?
Yes, by percent, by pixels, or by centimetres at a DPI. Leave one side blank to keep the shape.
Which formats can I use?
JPG, PNG and WebP, in and out. WebP is usually the smallest; PNG is lossless and best for sharp edges and text; JPG suits photos.
Can I compress several at once?
Yes. Add several images and download them together as a ZIP.
Will PNG compress to a target size?
PNG is lossless, so its size comes from the image's detail and dimensions. To hit a size with PNG, Merji shrinks the dimensions; for photos, JPG or WebP reach a small size with far less loss.
