Do my files get uploaded?
No. Finding and hiding the numbers happens inside your browser, so your file never leaves your device.
Is the number really gone, or just covered?
Really gone. A page with a number on it is redrawn as a picture with the black boxes burned in, so the number can't be copied, searched or uncovered. Numbers typed into form fields or written into the file's details are replaced with X.
Why keep the last four digits?
That's how UIDAI's own masked Aadhaar looks. If you'd rather hide all twelve, choose Hide all.
It didn't find my number. Why?
Merji can't read numbers on scanned pages, which are photos of paper, and tells you which pages look scanned. Numbers inside images or QR codes aren't found either.
What happens to the QR code on an e-Aadhaar?
It isn't changed. The QR code can carry your details, so check it before you share the file.
Will the other pages change?
No. Only pages with a number you chose to hide are redrawn. The rest keep their text, links and quality.
