Questions

Does my statement get uploaded?
No. The statement is read and summarised inside your browser, so it never leaves your device, and the categories are worked out with rules on your device — no AI.
How are transactions categorised?
By rules that recognise common Indian merchants and keywords (Swiggy and Zomato as food, Blinkit and BigBasket as groceries, Uber and IRCTC as travel, and so on). You can change any category.
If I fix a category, does it stick?
Yes. When you change a merchant's category, Merji remembers it on your device and uses it next time.
What's in the summary?
Money in and out, spending by category, your top merchants, and the closing balance. Download it all as an Excel file: transactions with categories, a spending sheet and a summary.
My statement is locked. What do I type?
The password your bank set, which the email with the statement explains. It's used on your device and isn't kept.
Can it read a scanned statement?
Not yet. It needs a statement downloaded from your bank as a PDF, where the text can be selected.
